Concerning Global Climate Change
WaferTech is taking steps to control its impact on global climate change.
Reducing Green House Gases
- Between 2007 and 2011, WaferTech reduced greenhouse gas emissions by 30%.
- WaferTech uses Pacific Northwest energy providers, meaning that approximately 87% comes from renewable energy sources.
- WaferTech participates in EPA’s Green Lights program, assessing its lighting needs and seeking more energy efficient alternatives.
Greenhouse Gas Reporting
- WaferTech uses a third-party to verify it is in compliance with the ISO 14064 standard (Measuring, Quantifying, and Reducing Greenhouse Gas Emissions).
Helping Employees Reduce Their Carbon Footprint
WaferTech promotes programs that help employees reduce their own carbon footprints. Programs we offer include:
- A commute-trip reduction program.
- Bike racks and shower facilities for those who choose to bike to work.
- Assistance in identifying public transportation options as well as an on-line program that helps people find carpool matches.
WaferTech hosts a popular annual Earthweek event for employees to educate them about environmental issues and solutions. For example, WaferTech promoted a free online Home Energy Survey during a past Earthweek, to help employees reduce their home energy needs.
